Figure drawing right after work: my head and hands were all about programming. I thought I’d try drawing exclusively with my left hand, since it seems to break me out of the abstract, know-it-all mode. It felt right–pun not intended. As for the drawings…
I hadn’t planned to go to this figure drawing session after work, so I on my way there I stopped by the Blue Rooster in Los Feliz. I saw these on the counter and wanted to try sketching with them.
It was interesting, and I’ll definitely use it again, maybe with a larger brush, though. I started by loading the brush directly from the stick, but found I could get more consitently dark wash if I rubbed the graphite on paper first, and used it as a palette.
It’s been a while! Some gestures and a couple pen & marker. Not too great, but a good reboot.
I worked a long day today and really wanted to do draw. I put Pixelovely’s Gesture Tool up on my projector and did a 30 minute class. Then THIS POSE came up. I think it showed for 10 minutes the first time, and I went back to it again. What a pose. I’m still amazed.
Today I used The Gesture Drawing Tool with my projector. The result felt very similar to drawing from a live model. The same surprise and excitement with a new pose, and the same challenges. These are all 30-second poses (though you might have guessed 10).
Sort of a pinup, though everything below the butt is just…wrong.
A left-handed evening. Whatever gets the job done.
